WATI vs respond.io: WhatsApp Inbox or Omnichannel? (2026) — Chatmizer guide

The short answer

In WATI vs respond.io, choose WATI if WhatsApp is your main channel and a small team answers it: plans are priced by users and automation triggers, plus WhatsApp messages. Choose respond.io if a larger team needs many channels, including email, SMS and website chat: plans start at $79 a month billed yearly and are priced by monthly active contacts.

WATI and respond.io both sell a shared inbox for WhatsApp with automation and AI on top, so they show up in the same shortlists. They are built for different teams. This comparison was checked on 9 October 2026 on each company's own pricing page; we make Chatmizer, a third tool, and say where it fits at the end.

Where WATI is the better choice

WATI is the simpler tool when WhatsApp is most of your conversations. Broadcasts, templates, a team inbox and chatbot flows are all designed around WhatsApp's rules, and the Growth plan includes three users with a monthly allowance of 1,000 automation triggers. Pro raises that to 2,000 with five users, Business to 5,000. If you mainly need a team to answer one WhatsApp number well, you pay for less than an omnichannel platform.

Where respond.io is the better choice

respond.io is built for teams that live in many channels at once and need structure: routing, workflows, reporting and handover rules across email, SMS, LINE, Viber and website chat as well as the chat apps. Starter is $79 a month billed yearly with five users, Growth is $159 with ten and includes AI Agents, and Advanced is $279. Extra monthly active contacts cost $12 per 100 on Growth and $15 per 100 on Advanced. That pricing suits a team with a steady, known volume more than a shop that goes viral.

WhatsApp fees on WATI and respond.io

Neither tool makes WhatsApp free. Meta charges per delivered template message by category and the customer's country, and since 1 October 2026 replies inside the 24-hour window are free only for the first 1,000 a month per number. With respond.io you pay those fees to Meta. With WATI they are charged through WATI's own rate card. Read WhatsApp Business API pricing for how the categories work.

How to choose between WATI and respond.io

  • Count your channels. WhatsApp plus one or two social apps points to WATI; email, SMS or LINE points to respond.io.
  • Count your people. Three to five agents fit WATI's plans; ten or more fit respond.io's.
  • Estimate monthly active contacts before you look at respond.io, and WhatsApp messages before you look at WATI.
  • Test the AI in your language, Arabic included, with real questions from your inbox.

When a small business needs neither

If you are a small business that sells or books in the chat, you may not need a support platform at all. Chatmizer puts WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger, TikTok, Telegram, X and Reddit in one shared team inbox, with an AI agent that answers in Arabic and English, books appointments and takes orders, on a fixed monthly plan. It has no email, SMS or website chat, so a large multichannel support team is better served by respond.io. See Chatmizer vs respond.io and Chatmizer vs WATI.
