Use WhatsApp codes for login, sign-up and password reset

Where the code fits in each journey, and the small details that make it safe and pleasant.

Sign-up

  1. 1Ask for the phone number with a country picker.
  2. 2Send a code and show a box for it, with a Resend button that unlocks after the wait.
  3. 3Check the code; when valid is true, mark the number verified and finish sign-up.

Login and password reset

The same two calls. For a password reset, only show the new-password form after the code checks out, and send the code only to the number already on the account — never one typed on the reset page.

  • Use autocomplete="one-time-code" on the code box, so phones offer the code.
  • Accept spaces and Arabic digits in the code; Chatmizer reads both.
  • Say where the code went: “We sent a code to your WhatsApp ending 7920.”
  • If sending fails (no WhatsApp on that number), offer email or SMS.
