How Meta charges for WhatsApp

Meta charges per delivered template message, by category and by the recipient's country. Marketing templates (offers, announcements) cost the most; utility templates (order and booking updates) and authentication templates (codes) cost less.

Replies to customers

Replies to someone who messaged you — by your team or an AI agent — are service messages. Since 1 October 2026 the first 1,000 each month per business number are free, and the rest are charged at the market's utility rate. The calculator applies this.

Who you pay

Meta bills these charges directly to the payment method on your WhatsApp Business account, whichever platform you use to send. The rates here are entered from Meta's published prices; always check Meta's rate card before budgeting.

Questions people ask

Is this Meta's official price?

It is an estimate from Meta's per-message rates as entered in our price list. Meta can change its prices; its own rate card is the final word.

Are messages free inside the 24-hour window?

Since 1 October 2026, replies inside the window are free only for the first 1,000 a month per number; after that they are charged at the utility rate. Marketing templates are always charged.

Why does the country matter?

Meta sets a different price for each country, based on the calling code of the number you send to.

Does this include the platform's own price?

No. This is only what Meta charges your WhatsApp Business account. Any platform you use has its own subscription.
